School Experience

Write a narrative from your school experience that encapsulates an important lesson you and perhaps others were able to learn. How did/has this experience shape(d) you?

I was taking College Algebra back in June; I was just about to finish my second week when I got really sick.  I tried to attend the chat session on Thursday, but was too sick to attend.   I thought I would complete it the next day.  The next day things got worse, so I was taken to the emergency room that evening.  After waiting for about three hours, in pain, I was taken back to the examination room.  After several test and scans the doctors concluded that my appendix had ruptured and I had to have surgery that night.  The doctor took out my appendix and the pain was gone.  I was in the hospital for another five days in all.  I was worried about school and getting my assignments turned in on time.  The instructor allowed me to turn in late assignments due to what I had been through, but I was ready to drop the course.  I was behind and felt that I could not get caught up.  In the end I got caught up with all my assignments and made a 78 on my final grade.  I learned that I can do anything I set my mind on doing.  This taught me a valuable lesson.  Do not ever give up on yourself no matter how bad things look.
